Commuting and fasting during Ramadan

Question
I commute everyday more than 100 miles to go to my university. In Ramadan can I break my fast as a result of travelling?

Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

The majority of scholars are of the opinion that travelling the distance of 83 km or more one way only makes it lawful for the traveling person to break fast and shorten prayer.

So, if the person travels daily for 100 km (one way) he can shorten prayer and break fast. But if this distance of 100 km is the entire distance the person travels, that is to say if 50 km are one way and the remaining 50 km are the return trip, then he/she has no right to shorten prayer or break fast.
